AC coupling works for the 4020X out of the box as long as the HMeter is connected OK. My setup has a microinverter plugged into a wall socket and the HiBattery plugged in to a different socket (this is just a trial – it will be hard wired soon) so there is no direct connection between them.
As soon as the microinverter output exceeds the house load any excess will charge the battery. I only have 2 panels at the moment so it won’t charge quickly.
